Kim Manus, Interim CEO / CFO

NEWPORT, WA – Thursday the Pend Oreille County Public Hospital District #1 Board of Commissioners announced Kim Manus, Chief Financial Officer, as the Interim Chief Executive Officer. The District’s current CEO, Merry-Ann Keane, announced September 15 as her last day with Newport Hospital and Health Services. Keane is moving to Western Washington to be closer to her daughter and continue her healthcare career as a hospital CEO.

Manus started with Newport Hospital and Health Services in August of 1986 and has served as the Business Office Manager/Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. In her time with the District, she has seen exponential growth and looks forward to future opportunities for expansion. Manus said she will continue moving the work of the District’s strategic plan, which has made significant progress under Keane’s leadership. Express Care service expansion, MRI service expansion, respiratory therapy expansion, and switching to live human telephone operators are just a few of the successful initiatives completed in 2024. In early 2023, Keane rallied the teams to turnaround the District’s projected $3.2 million budget shortfall; by year-end, the District’s bottom line was positive. Keane was also instrumental in leading the charge to bring labor and delivery services back to Newport Community Hospital, after a yearlong closure beginning in 2022.
