CANCELLED – Trick or Treating at NHHS

Newport Hospital and Health Services has suspended ALL public trick-or-treating across our facilities this year.

This decision was not easy, and we know that allowing the public to bring their little ones for trick-or-treating has always been a positive activity for our community. However, there are several points that we had to consider in light of the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Along with Northeast Tri County Health District, NHHS public messages are focused on actively trying to reduce community spread, which includes limiting gatherings, especially in light of increased community transmission rates in our area.
  • Business trick-or-treating generally happens during our extremely busy COVID-19 test collection hours, and dealing with even more traffic congestion creates increased safety risks for families.
  • The CDC and Washington State Department of Health have labeled it a high risk event (although many Newport businesses have chosen to continue).

We ask that you stay safe and wear masks, avoid gatherings, wash your hands, and stay home if you are ill. #KindnessNotCOVID #MaskUp
